A website by B&S consists of finished HTML pages that a server delivers without a database and without a site builder. That makes it fast, inexpensive to run and hard to attack. Legal notice, privacy policy, structured data and preparation for search and AI search are included. Fonts are hosted on your own server.

What problem does a static website solve?

Many small business websites run on a site builder or on a content management system with plugins. Both need maintenance: updates, security holes, a subscription that keeps going up, and a design that only goes as far as the builder allows. If the provider shuts down or changes its terms, the website depends on it.

A static website has no such dependency. It consists of files that any web server can deliver. There is no database that can be hacked, no plugin that goes out of date and no provider you are tied to. It loads quickly because nothing has to be computed, and the files can be moved to any other provider.

Why without a site builder?

A site builder is the right choice if you want to publish yourself every day and design and legal texts are secondary. For a company website that should run for years without anyone working on it, it is usually the more expensive option: the subscription keeps running, load times suffer from the overhead every builder carries, and structured data or legal texts can only be adjusted to a limited extent. We build without a site builder so that the website looks and works the way that is right for your company, and we tell you in the call if a site builder is the better choice in your case after all.

What is included?

Legal pages

A legal notice (Impressum) under Section 5 of the German Digital Services Act (DDG) with the information required for your legal form. A privacy policy under Article 13 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), matched to what the website actually does, instead of a generator text with paragraphs on services you do not use. Contact forms with the required notice and without passing data to third parties not named in the policy.

Fonts on your own server

Fonts are delivered from your server, not from Google Fonts. When fonts load from Google servers, the visitor's IP address is transmitted to Google. In 2022, the Munich Regional Court I (Landgericht München I) ruled that doing this without consent violates the GDPR (judgment of January 20, 2022, case no. 3 O 17493/20). On our websites, this transfer does not happen.

Structured data

Every page carries structured data based on schema.org: organization, services, questions and answers, breadcrumbs, and for articles the author and date. Search engines and AI search read from it what your company is and does, without having to guess from the body text.

Load time

No database, no plugins, no scripts from third-party servers, images in the right size and in modern formats. Before sign-off, we test load times with the same tools Google uses and show you the results.

Visibility in search and AI search

A sitemap, access for the crawlers of Google, Bing, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude in robots.txt, an llms.txt file listing the most important pages, and clear titles and descriptions. Plus content that answers a question directly, with a date and an author, because AI search tools prefer to cite passages like these.

How does a website become visible in AI answers?

AI search tools such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews build their answers from pages they can retrieve and cite. They cite content that answers a question in a few sentences, carries a date and an author and is readable through structured data. What others write about your company matters just as much: mentions in trade magazines, directories and industry sites are proof to these systems that your own website is a reliable source. A website alone is therefore not enough. We build the citable content on your site and, if you wish, combine it with expert articles in online magazines that provide the mentions on third-party sites.

How does the build work?

B&S Ventures from Hannover builds websites the same way it built this site and the websites of its portfolio companies. In the free intro call, we clarify the purpose, the audience and the pages you need. You get an initial direction and then a proposal. Next comes the structure with the texts, because text comes before design. You see a draft that you check in your own browser, at every screen size. After sign-off, we set up hosting, domain and form and hand over all access credentials. Changes after that are handled with a response time agreed in writing, or you make them yourself.

What do you need to contribute?

The facts about your company and your services, ideally the way you would explain them to a customer on the phone. Images, if you have them, and the details for the legal notice. Access to the domain or approval to register a new one. One person who signs off on the draft and answers questions. We write the texts with you, but not without you, because a website without your knowledge only sounds generic.

Frequently asked questions about websites

Can I edit content on a static website myself?

Yes. Texts are stored as simple files. You make small changes yourself or send them to us, with a response time agreed in writing. Anyone who wants to publish daily gets a lightweight editor or the advice to use a content management system.

Does my website need a cookie banner?

Only if it uses cookies or similar technologies that are not technically necessary, such as tracking. This is governed by Section 25 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG). Our websites work without tracking, and we read visitor numbers from the server logs without cookies. A banner is then not required.

What does a website cost?

That depends on the number of pages, on whether texts and images are available, on forms and on multilingual content. After the intro call, you receive a proposal. Operating costs are low, because a static website needs no database server and no plugin maintenance.

Where is the website hosted, and who owns the domain?

The domain, hosting account and access credentials are registered in your name. We set up the provider you choose or the one we recommend, and hand over all access credentials. The website can be moved to another provider without rebuilding it.

Will my website be found on Google and in AI search?

Nobody can guarantee a ranking. We deliver the prerequisites: structured data, a sitemap, access for AI search crawlers, short load times and content with direct, dated answers. Whether AI search tools cite the site also depends on mentions on third-party sites.
