Privacy policy

This website works without cookies, tracking or third-party fonts. The only data processed are server log files from hosting and the information you send us through the contact form or by email.

This is a courtesy translation. The German version is legally binding.

We have not appointed a data protection officer. The requirements of Section 38 of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) are not met, because fewer than 20 people at our company are regularly engaged in the automated processing of personal data.

2. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted as a static site at Netlify. The provider is Netlify, Inc., 101 2nd Street, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA. When you open a page, Netlify's servers automatically process the following data in log files: IP address, date and time of access, page accessed, amount of data transferred, browser type and operating system, and the page you came from.

The purpose is to deliver the website, to keep operations secure and stable, and to fend off attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Our legitimate interest is to provide the website securely and without disruption. We do not combine the log files with other data and do not analyze them to identify individuals.

The retention period of the log files is governed by Netlify's information in the Netlify privacy policy. In its own statements, Netlify has stated a retention period of 30 days for access logs containing IP addresses.

We have a data processing agreement with Netlify under Art. 28 GDPR. Netlify calls it the Data Processing Agreement, and it is part of Netlify's terms of use.

3. Contact form and email

When you use the contact form, we process your name, your email address, your request and, if you provide it, your company. The form runs on Netlify Forms. Your entries are stored at Netlify and forwarded by email to jb@bsventuregroup.com. When you submit the form, technical data such as your IP address and the time are also processed in order to detect misuse.

If you email us directly, we process your address, the content of the message and any information you include.

The purpose is to answer your inquiry and, if it comes to that, to prepare a contract. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where the inquiry is aimed at a contract, and otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is being able to answer inquiries sent to us.

We delete your inquiry as soon as the matter is settled and no retention obligation applies, at the latest twelve months after the last contact. If a contract is concluded, the retention periods of six and eight years under German commercial and tax law apply.

4. Transfers to the USA

Netlify is based in the USA. Data arising from hosting and from the contact form may therefore be processed in the USA. The transfer is permitted under Art. 45 GDPR in conjunction with the European Commission's adequacy decision on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. In its privacy policy, Netlify states that it is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. In addition, Netlify uses the European Commission's standard contractual clauses under Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR (Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/914). Netlify's information is available at netlify.com/privacy.

5. No cookies, no tracking

This website does not set cookies, does not use any analytics or advertising services, and does not load fonts, videos or maps from third-party servers. No information is stored on or read from your device unless it is technically necessary to display the page. Consent under Section 25 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG) is therefore not required, and there is no cookie banner.

6. Links to other websites

This website links to pages of other providers, for example to the websites of our portfolio companies. If you follow such a link, the privacy notices of the respective provider apply. Merely viewing our pages does not transfer any data to these providers.

7. Your rights

You have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

  • Access to the stored data (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • Rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • Objection to processing (Art. 21 GDPR, see section 8)

An email to jb@bsventuregroup.com is enough to exercise these rights.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for us is:

8. Right to object

You may object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to any processing that we base on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21(1) GDPR). On this website, this concerns the server log files and the handling of inquiries that are not aimed at a contract. After an objection, we will no longer process your data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims. An objection can be sent informally to jb@bsventuregroup.com.

9. Changes

If the technology of the website or the legal situation changes, we will update this policy. The date at the top shows the current version.
